5 ways to ensure your child will love reading
- Be a good role model-let your child see that reading is a key part of your life.
- Set aside time to regularly discuss the books that your child has been reading.
- Give your child the opportunity to see films about the books he or she has read and engage in discussion about the merits of the two approaches.
- Keep the experience pleasurable- do not preach or lecture about the benefits of reading.
- Be open to having your child use audio books. It allows them to hear wonderful actors reading interesting material that may be far above the level of independent reading that your child can do.
