Meal Ideas for Kids: Apples and Cinnamon Crunch Cake!

Children need a lot of  energy during the day to help them learn to read, write, spell and do the rest of their schoolwork. It’s important for them to nourish their bodies with wholesome foods. To help fuel your little ones throughout the day, we’re bringing you healthy meal and snack ideas!


Today’s great meal idea for kids is a new and healthy take on the classic Apple Cinnamon Crunch Cake. Apples and Cinnamon not only make a tasty combination, but are super healthy foods!

This recipe tastes great, and takes only three minutes to make!  The best part about this recipe is that it’s completely safe for kids to help out in the kitchen and learn while doing it. With today’s recipe, children can learn about measuring, clean-as-you-go practices, and even the health benefits of the foods involved!

Here’s today’s recipe: TKCN Apple Cinnamon Crunch Cake

1. 1 cinnamon flavored brown rice cake

2. 1 teaspoon low or no fat cream cheese

3. 1/2 teaspoon organic or natural sugar

4. Sprinkle of ground cinnamon

5. 1/4 cup sliced fresh apples or dried apples


1. Lay rice cake flat on a plate

2. Using a teaspoon, spread cream cheese on rice cake

3. Place fruit on top of spread evenly

4. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon

5. Eat and Crunch”

After your children have finished this tasty snack and helped clean up, talk with them about what they learned while preparing the meal.  Chances are, they really enjoyed helping to prepare it and didn’t even realize that they were learning during the process!
