Snack Ideas for Kids: Chocolate Banana Smoothie!


Children need a lot of energy during the day to help them learn to read, write, spell and do the rest of their schoolwork. It’s important for them to nourish their bodies with wholesome foods.

To help keep your little ones going throughout the day, we’re happy to feed more than just their minds with healthy meal and snack ideas for kids. Children can even help create these recipes with you!

Today’s great snack idea for kids is a Chocolate Banana Smoothie!

With today’s recipe, kids will love the healthy benefits of this power-packed snack. This smoothie will give your kids plenty of protein, potassium, and other essential nutrients.


(NOTE: Must have Adult or Parent Supervision)banana-smoothie

1. 1 ripe, peeled banana broken into pieces
2. 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
3. 1 tablespoon honey (raw, unfiltered honey if you can get it)
4. 1 cup ice
5. 1 cup organic or natural yogurt
6. ½ teaspoon lemon juice
7. ½ cup natural, unsweetened apple juice


1. Under the supervision of an Adult or Parent: Place all ingredients in a blender
2. Place top on blender and use the “pulse” button until ingredients start to blend
3. Then press “blend” button and let blend for 1 – 2 minutes
4. Turn blend off
5. Pour smoothie in tall glasses and share with a friend or family member”


After you and the kids finish blending up this smooth and tasty snack, talk with them about what they learned about mixing, as well as the nutrition in the foods they ate.  Chances are, they really enjoyed helping to prepare,  unaware  that they were learning during the process!
