Reading Kingdom is an amazing online reading program and game that can turn any child into a star reader. But for the program to work, children have to practice regularly. So we have compiled a list of tips to help you establish a regular Reading Kingdom schedule and stick to it.

4 Tips for Succeeding in the Reading Kingdom

  • The Room
    Make sure you have a quiet place for your child to use Reading Kingdom that has no distractions such as TV, radios, siblings, games, toys, etc.
  • The Set Up
    Make sure the computer is a comfortable one for your child. That means that the seat is at the right height, the mouse is large enough for your child to use and in a comfortable position, the screen is at the right height and so on. (Remember to use a mouse – touchpads and trackballs tend to much harder for a child to use.)
  • Create a Positive Climate
    Make Reading Kingdom time a special time for your child. Tell your child how practicing Reading Kingdom is going to make them smarter and school easier. Give your child a lot of positive feedback each time they practice. At the same time, ignore any poor practice behavior.
  • Make it easy
    One of the great things about Reading Kingdom is that kids can often use it on their own after a few sessions. So set up your computer so that it’s easy for your child to start the program. There are many different Internet browsers available (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera) and we recommend installing a different browser just for Reading Kingdom. That way your kids can use the program without affecting anything you may be reading or working on. We also suggest placing a link to Reading Kingdom on your desktop. Then your child can just double-click the link and get going.
